In national history, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark were the men behind the mission for President Thomas Jefferson’s territorial expansion of the United States. The “Corps of Discovery” was the formal name of the said cross-country expedition. In 2004, Johnson Matthey produced Palladium rounds to celebrate Lewis and Clark’s historic journey.
Today, the 1/2 oz Johnson Matthey Lewis & Clark Palladium Round is available online from hollywoodgoldexchange.com.
- Each Round contains 1/2 Troy oz of .9995 pure Palladium.
- Issued in 2004 by Johnson Matthey!
- Obverse features explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark scanning off into the distance, detailing their next course. The design is based on the painting “Lewis and Clark West to the Pacific” by Frank R. Davenport. The words “STILLWATER PALLADIUM” are marked near the rim, with the phrase “LEWIS & CLARK CORPS OF DISCOVERY” and “2004” engraved near the explorers.
- Reverse shows a design of a detailed image of an American Buffalo, with the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “TROY OUNCE .9995 FINE PALLADIUM”.
