American Gold Eagle

The American Gold Eagle is the premier piece of gold for sale from the United States Mint each year. This gold proof coin also makes a great gift for graduations, weddings, Mother’s or Father’s Day, birthdays, and other special occasions worth commemorating.

American Gold Eagle History and Design

The famous coins debuted in 1986 in four different weights. The bullion versions of the coin are struck every year with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz weights available to gold investors. The 1 oz and 1/10 oz coins are, historically, the most popular among gold buyers.
Their design is based upon one originally commissioned by President Theodore Roosevelt. The reverse of American Gold Eagles features the design of a family of bald eagles. While a male flies over the nest with a branch in its talons, a female stands guard in the nest offering her wing as shelter to a young hatchling. This design was created specifically for the Gold Eagle series in 1986 by artist and sculptor Miley Busiek.

  • Coins are in protective packaging
  • On the obverse is Augustus Saint-Gaudens Lady Liberty design
  • On the reverse is the American bald eagle family by Miley Busiek
